It is supplied as a convenient, one-component solution ready for use. It is compatible with film or chemiluminescent imager for flexibility in recording permanent results.

The system is based on the hydrolysis of 5-bromo,4-chloro,3-indolylphosphate BCIP/nitrobluetetrazolium (NBT) substrate by alkaline phosphatase, resulting in a strong purple reaction product with minimal background staining. It provides sensitivity in the low nanogram range, sharp band resolution and a clear image. The color produced is linear over a wide dynamic range and resists fading when exposed to light. It is supplied as a convenient, one-component solution ready for use
