The FastDNA SPIN kt for Soil is designed to isolate bacterial, fungal, plant and animal genomic DNA from soil and other environmental samples. Soil is processed with a FastPrep® instrument and lysing matrix E tubes designed to efficiently lyse all microorganisms.

The released DNA is purified by a silica-based spin filter method and is suitable for PCR analysis and other downstream applications. Complete lysis of all organisms, including historically difficult sources such as eubacterial spores and endospores, gram positive bacteria, yeast, algae, nematodes and fungi is achieved within seconds using a FastPrep instrument and Lysing Matrix E tubes.

Cited in over 6000 scientific publications, the FastDNA SPIN kit for Soil delivers the highest DNA yield from any environmental sample including soil, sediment, sludge, compost, manure, rhizosphere or waste water. The FastDNA SPIN Kit for Soil contains lysing matrix tubes and all the reagents needed to extract DNA in a process that efficiently removes humic acids and other PCR inhibitors.

Kit contents: 50×2.0 ml tubes of lysing matrix E, 60 ml sodium phosphate buffer, 8 ml MT buffer, 25 ml of PPS solution, 66 ml binding matrix, 50 spin modules, 50 catch tubes, 12 ml concentrated SEWS-M, 20 ml DES, 200 µL BBS gel loading dye.

Reagent: SEWS-M - pH range: 6.4 to 6.8.
