O-Dianisidine, light brown powder
o-Dianisidine

o-Dianisidine is a peroxidase substrate suitable for use in ELISA procedures.

  • Presentation: Light Brown Powder
  • Vapor Pressure: 8.8 x 10-9 mm Hg at 25 °C (estimated)

o-Dianisidine is used for the detection of Au, Co, Cu, SCN-, V; determination of Au, NO2-, Ce(IV) (spectrophotometrically). Ortho Dianisidine may be used in a novel automated method, used to measure the total antioxidant response (TAR) against potent free radical reactions. It may also be used along with glucose oxidase and peroxidase in the determination of blood and urinary glucose. o-Dianisidine is used as a redox indicator. It is used as an intermediate for the preparation of azo dyes, pigments and o-dianisidine diisocyanate, which finds application in adhesives, polyurethane elastomers and resins. It is also used in various industries like leather, paper, plastics, rubber, and textiles. It acts as a reagent to detect metals, thiocyanates, and nitrites.

Soluble in ethanol (200 mg/mL - clear, violet-brown solution) or aqueous acids, benzene, ether, chloroform, acetone, most organic solvents and lipids. Almost insoluble in water."
