Fluorogenic reagent for amino acids1. Also used to modify sulfhydryl groups and tyrosine residues in enzymes2. 4-Chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazan (NBD-chloride) was used in the synthesis of fluorescent phospholipid-derivative, NBD-didecanoylphosphatidylethanolamine and functionalized hydroxynaphthofurazan. It was used in spectrophotometric and spectrofluorometric determination of clemastine hydrogen fumarate, loratadine, losartan potassium and ramipril in pharmaceutical formulations.
