ABCA2, also named as ABC2 and KIAA1062, belongs to the ABC transporter ABCA2, a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter family, is primarily expressed in brain and is involved in brain sterol homeostasis and associated with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. ABCA2 is mainly localized in endosomes and lysosomes of oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells. It has also be reported as a marker of neural progenitor in the adult rodent brain. (16539677)
