USP28(Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase 28) is also named as KIAA1515. USP28 is a 53BP1-interacting protein and a putative deubiquitinating enzyme, and belongs to a family of enzymes, called deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs), which remove ubiquitin from the ubiquitin conjugates. It can be phosphorylated upon DNA damage at Ser-67 and Ser-714, by ATM or ATR. This protein has 2 isoforms produced by alternative splicing with the molecular mass of 122 kDa and 119 kDa.
