Specifically androgen-regulated gene protein (SARG), encoded by C1orf116, is a 601-aa protein considered putative androgen-specific receptor. SARG mRNA is highly expressed in prostate and can be up-regulated by androgens, but not by glucocorticoids. Little is known about the function of SARG to date. Two isoforms of SARG are produced by alternative splicing encoding 64 kDa and 38 kDa proteins, and both isoforms can be recognized by this antibody 14888-1-AP.
