WARS2(tryptophan--tRNA ligase, mitochondrial) is also called mitochondrial TRPRS and belongs to the class-I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family. The gene encodes the protein containing 360-amino acid ,which has an N-terminal mitochondrial targeting signal that is cleaved after residue 18. WARS2 has characteristics of a class I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase, including a classical Rossmann fold. It has 2 isoforms produced by alternative splicing.
