CD55 is widely expressed on hematopoietic and on many non-hematopoietic cells; it is weakly present on NK cells. Decay-accelerating Factor (CD55) is one of the three proteins protecting cells from autologous lysis by complement. (The others are: membrane cofactor protein (MCP; CD46) and an inhibitor of the membrane attack complex formation (CD59))
CD55 antibody can be used in Western Blot starting at 1.5 - 2 ?g/mL, and immunohistochemistry starting at 5 ?g/mL.
