Fusicoccin ≥90% (by HPLC), white solid
Supplier: Enzo Life Sciences
Plant H+-ATPase activator.
Diterpene glucoside with numerous effects. Induces H+ extrusion from plant cells by 14-3-3-dependent activation of the plasma membrane H+-ATPase. It induces translocation of 14-3-3 proteins from the cytosol to the membrane and causes a dramatic increase in cytosolic 14-3-3s. Stimulates release of cytochrome c from mitochondria, cell enlargement, ion uptake, seed germination, opening the stomata, etc. Markedly reduces the cell's capability for H2O2 scavenging. Fusicoccin has been demonstrated to cause randomization of asymmetry of the left-right axis (heterotaxia) in Xenopus embryos.
Isolated from fungus Fusicoccum amygdali.
Soluble in ethanol and chloroform. Slightly soluble in ethyl acetate, ethyl ether, sparingly soluble in acetone.
Caution: Stable for at least 1 year after receipt when stored, as supplied, at -20 °C. Stock solutions are stable for up to 3 months at -20 °C.
