Bestrophin is a 68 kDa basolateral plasma membrane protein encoded by the VMD2 gene. The role of Bestrophin is as yet unclear but it is thought to be involved in Best Macular Dystrophy (BMD) or Vitelliform Macular Dystrophy (VMD2); inherited early onset autosomal forms of macular degeneration. There is evidence to suggest that Bestrophin is a chloride channel that plays a role in generating the altered electrooculogram in Best disease patients.
ICC: Use at an assay dependent dilution. IHC: Use at an assay dependent dilution, GTX14928 stains weakly. IP: Use at a dilution of 1/200. GTX14928 immunoprecipitates poorly. WB: Use at a dilution of 1/500. Predicted molecular weight: 68 kDa. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
